Amy Winehouse’s “Back to Black Album” Returns to Top of Charts

Amy Winehouse

It was little more than a week ago that controversial singer Amy Winehouse was found deceased in her Camden apartment. Now her most well known album “Back to Black” has made its way back to the UK Album Charts.

“Back to Black” first saw success in 2006 and since the singer’s passing has re-entered the UK Album Charts and has reached number one. Her debut album “Frank,” released in 2003, has also re-entered the charts and is holding the number five spot.

Amy Winehouse has not only resurfaced posthumous on the UK Album Charts, but on the Singles chart as well. One of her most popular songs, “Rehab,” stands at number 8. “Tears Dry on Their Own” has come into the 25th spot. “Love is a Losing Game” has re-entered the singles chart at number 33, and “You Know I’m No Good” came back at number 37.

Winehouse became another member of the “27 Club,” a list of rising musical performers who all passed away during their 27th year of life. Although many believe that drugs and alcohol were contributing factors in the singer’s death, autopsy results were inconclusive. The cause of death has been listed as “unexplained,” pending toxicology results. Contradicting statements from people who had seen the star the night before her death, the Winehouse family contends that Amy had not been drinking recently.

The mother of Amy Winehouse has contributed the singer’s cause of death to alcohol withdraw, as she allegedly quit drinking cold turkey. Some say that they saw the star the night before her death, heavily intoxicated
