
Singer Amy Winehouse was cremated today shortly after funeral services were held. Winehouse was found dead in her Camden apartment on July 23 and although many were saddened by the loss. Several hundred people are said to have attended the funeral service, including Kelly Osbourne and Mark Ronson.
Winehouse has led a troubled personal life that included a rocky marriage to Blake Fielder-Civil. Civil, who is currently serving a prison term, was reported to be devastated after learning of his former wife’s death. The “Back to Black” singer often abused drugs and alcohol and had been in rehab several times. She had also been diagnosed with symptoms that appeared to be leading to emphysema.
Winehouse began recording studio albums at the tender age of 19, but did not see commercial success until the release of the song “Rehab,” which saw great mainstream success around the world.
Autopsy results came back as “inconclusive” and her cause of death remains listed as “unexplained.” Medical examiners are waiting on toxicology reports to be completed in further attempt to establish a cause of death. The test results could take 3 to 8 weeks before being complete.
