Björk Welcomes Hacking of Her Biophilia Phone App

Björk spent a great deal of time designing her Biophilia app for Apple, but in a recent interview, the singer hinted that she had some high hopes for the app in the hands of the techno savvy. Biophilia is currently unavailable for Android and Blackberry users.

“I’m not supposed to say this,” she told Drowned in the Sound, “but I’m trusting that the pirates out there won’t tie their hands behind their back.”

The “Innocence” singer went on to say that the program writers had intentionally left the programs so that they could be transferred to other system platforms.

Björk is a native of Iceland. She began her music career at just the age of 14 when she formed the all-girl band, Spit and Snot. By the 1990s, she had worked as a collaborative artist and became a member of the bands KUKL and The Sugarcubes, before embarking on a solo recording career.

Several of her music videos drew controversy due to their graphical content and received little play on television music video channels. Remaining non-discouraged, Björk’s style continued to evolve. She has received numerous awards for her musical endeavors, as well as for her on-screen appearances.

Biophilia is Björk’s eighth studio album that combines both her music with apps to teach fans about music and the natural world. Björk is scheduled to perform at Bestival on September 11.
