Nadine Coyle, of the band Girls Aloud, has recently confirmed that the group will be coming back together and reuniting for the group’s tenth anniversary.
Coyle has said in an interview with Dean Kelly that it will be a “whole huge production” that will involve more than four dozen people. Coyle said that she looks forward to reuniting with Cheryl, Kimberley, Sarah, and Nicola and to having fun together as a group.
Girls Aloud came to be in November 2002 after winning a television music competition. Their song “Sound of the Underground” became the Christmas number one single that year and spent four weeks at number one before being certified as platinum in Spring 2003. They followed up with other successful singles including “Life Got Cold” and “No Good Advice.”
The group released five albums in total before going on hiatus so that each of the women could focus on their solo recording careers and other pursuits, never actually disbanding the group. Girls Aloud have performed together a handful of times since announcing their break in 2009. The band has been the feature of a television documentary and have also been performed in part of a feature film.
Hilary Shaw, manager for Girls Aloud, has confirmed that there will indeed be a 2012 reunion for the girls.
