iPhone Sales Beat Android With 4S Launch

Data supplied by Kantar Worldpanel ComTech has reported that Apple sales beat out Android sales in the month of October.

The data received from Britain has shown that Apple accounted for just under 43% of all smart phone sales in October with Android dropping down to 35%. While the statistics reveal a great increase in the sale of iPhones, the sales were primarily from loyal Apple customers over those unfamiliar with the company’s cellular products.

It is believed that the early October launch of the iPhone 4S boosted the company’s sales significantly. An estimated 75% of those who have purchased the 4S owned earlier versions of the product, a number that comes as a surprise when comparing the phone to its predecessors. The 4S seemed to offer only a mild upgrade in both service and features. The 4S brought a more powerful processor into play, along with an improved camera and Siri.

The undying loyalty of Apple customers could also spell bad news for the company, as the minor upgrades from the 4S has allowed rival manufacturers such as Nokia and Samsung the chance to produce similar or better products.

Worldpanel ComTech receives data from thousands of people in Britain regarding their cell phones including the phone model, price, and retailer, as well as the network that they are currently using.
