Kasabian Frontman Found Plane Concert Frightening

Kasabian frontman Tom Meighan has admitted that a recent gig aboard an unused Boeing 747 plane was somewhat of a frightening experience.

The group delivered a small, private show at Leicester’s Bruntingthorpe Aerodrome. The idea of hosting the show at the Aerodome was the idea of band member Serge Pizzorno.

“It’s quite frightening in there, like a fire’s happened or it’s crashed,” Meighan said. “Shouldn’t really be in a plane when it’s like that.”

Pizzorno was excited to be playing aboard the plane, noting that such gigs and opportunities are unique. He also admitted that the idea of playing a surprise show in the group’s hometown excited him. Nearly 200 people turned out for the event, which was part of the Vevo Presents music video series.

The set was comprised primarily of songs from the group’s third album and included the songs “Take Aim” and “Vlad the Impaler.” The group also featured songs from their forthcoming album, ‘Velociraptor!’ including “Switchblade Smiles” and “Days Are Forgotten.” The group also played a previously unheard song, “Rewired.”

The group has spent the summer touring, popping up at various music festivals and building hype for the September 19 release of their latest album. ‘Velociraptor!’ is the group’s fourth studio album.
