Lady Gaga is one of the many celebrities who are participating in the “I Will” campaign, in honor of one of the most pivotal days in American history. Sunday, September 11, 2011 marks the tenth anniversary of the attack at the World Trade Center in New York City.
The “I Will” campaign is a bundle of public service announcements made by celebrities to share thoughts, honor those who lost their lives, and to keep morale boosted. Lady Gaga was one of the many celebrities to open up about their memories of that fateful day.
“I watched the towers fall from the roof of my school, holding all my best friends,” said Gaga, who is from NYC.
The World Trade Center’s Twin Towers were not the only intended target that day. Two planes were sent crashing into the Twin Towers and one into the Pentagon building. United Airlines Flight 93 was also hijacked, but those aboard quickly decided that if they were to die, it would be protecting their country.
To Lady Gaga, New York City is more than the place that she grew up, it is a magical destination full of life that has inspired much of her music.
Other celebrities taking part in the “I Will” campaign include Pauly D, Nas, and Drake Bell.
