Linkin Park, who are currently touring in Japan, recently took the initiative to throw a concert where they were able to raise funds for Save the Children, an organization that advocates for children’s rights and support.

The band had challenged fans to raise a minimum of $ 500 each and in return were rewarded with 2 concert tickets for the show, which was supported by Japanese music artist, B’z. Band member Mike Shinoda, who also performs solo under the name of Fort Minor, was pleased to make a special announcement.

“Music Relief and the fans raised over $ 500,000,” Shinoda said, noting that Save the Children would be using the funds to assist children in Japan effected by the earthquake and tsunami. “You guys have been really generous.”

Following the concert, the group accompanied members of the organization to Ishinomaki City. There they visited a school were more than 200 children had been displaced by the sudden natural disasters. Singer Chester Bennington solemnly noted that he was moved by seeing the smiles and happiness upon the children’s faces.

“Six months ago this area was so devastated,” he said. “It puts things in perspective.”

The members of Linkin Park were amazed by the children that they met and were especially grateful to their fans for their enormous efforts to help others.
