According to bassist Chris Wolstenholme, Muse is scheduled to hit the studio in September to begin recording their new album.
During an interview with BBC Radio 1, Wolstenholme confirmed that the group planned to clock some serious studio time in September and October to begin writing the album.
“We’re always going to be the kind of band that want to get out and play live,” Wolstenholme said, referring to the recent addition to vocalist Matt Bellamy’s family. “As the years go on, there’s that temptation to cut the touring down less and less but we still love playing live. I can’t imagine that we’ll cut down touring significantly.”
Bellamy and girlfriend Kate Hudson recently welcomed a son, Bingham Hawn Bellamy, to the world.
Muse made their album debut in 1999 and have recorded five studio albums. The alt rock group has received numerous MTV Europe Music Awards as well as two Brit Awards, five Q Awards, eight NME Awards, and one MTV Music Award. The group gained a stronger American following after their song “Supermassive Black Hole” was featured as part of the ‘Twilight’ movie soundtrack in 2008.
Muse has remained active since the release of their last album, “The Resistance,” in 2009. The album became the group’s third to reach number one. The band spent much of 2010 headlining at a variety of music festivals around the world and by offering tour support for U2.
Muse is scheduled to take the stage later this month at both the Reading and Leeds festivals. Other headlining acts include The Strokes and My Chemical Romance.
