Noel Gallagher Longs to Form a Supergroup with Paul Weller and Johnny Marr

Noel Gallagher 2011

Noel Gallagher first made a name for himself as the guitarist for Oasis before embarking on his solo career. Currently on tour promoting his album ‘Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds,’ he admitted that he would love to take part in a super-group of recording artists.

Gallagher hopes that his group could consist of Paul Weller, Johnny Marr, Mani, and possibly other indie recording artists. SuperHeavy, a group project formed by Mick Jagger that features Joss Stone and Damian Marley, have been called “f**king ridiculous” by Gallagher and his desire is to have nothing in common between the two groups.

Gallagher recently told The Quietus about his hopes to be a part of a super-group.

“Me, Johnny Marr, Weller, and Mani would be great,” Gallagher said. “As long as it wasn’t like SuperHeavy.”

Following his departure from Oasis, Gallagher worked on a number of projects, consisting primarily of quiet collaborations with other artists. He married publicist Sara MacDonald early this summer, shortly before announcing the self-titled debut album of his latest project, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds.

The group released their first single, “The Death of You and Me,” in late July. The video for their latest single, “AKA .. What A Life!” was released on October 8.

‘Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds’ is scheduled for release on October 17.
