Noel Gallagher Thinks Bands Should Do Oasis Covers

Noel Gallagher has announced that he will be playing select Oasis songs as part of his upcoming tour later this year and believes that other bands such as Foo Fighters, Green Day, and Radiohead should do the same.

Noel Gallagher’s latest project, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, will be taking to the road in the UK. Tickets for the tour sold out in under ten minutes when they went on sale last week. Gallagher has said that the concerts will feature about four Oasis songs.

The band covering the songs may be a welcome treat for fans of both Gallager and Oasis. After Noel’s departure from the band, brother Liam Gallagher reformed the band and re-introduced themselves to the world as Beady Eye. Beady Eye does not play Oasis songs in public.

Gallagher recently told Rolling Stone that he believes most bands should play Oasis songs.

“The Foo Fighters should definitely do a couple,” Gallagher said. “Green Day could do even more than one or two. Radiohead? I mean let’s face it. It’d be a better night out.”

Gallagher went on to tell his thoughts about transitioning from large arena tours to smaller venues.

“F**k you. Get out of your comfort zone!” he said. “It took me 20 years to build a comfort zone. I have no intention of stepping outside.”

Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds will kick off their UK tour on October 23 in Dublin followed by an October 27 show in Edinburgh. Their final show will be in London on October 29.
