The members of One Direction pitched in to buy band member Niall Horan one of the most eccentric birthday gifts ever. In honor of Niall’s 18th birthday, his fellow bandmates came together to buy him a birthday president. No, that’s no error. They actually bought him a president.
Louis, Zayn, Harry, and Liam purchased a life sized wax figure of US President Barak Obama for their buddy. Liam explained to The Sun that Niall “is obsessed” with the American President and that the guys in the band had the piece custom ordered. Then they had it delivered.
One Direction rose to fame after placing third during the seventh season run of ‘The X Factor.’ The group was soon after signed with Syco and went on tour with the rest of ‘The X Factor’ top ten contestants. In April 2011, the group confirmed that they would be releasing their first single over the course of the summer. The song “What Makes You Beautiful” reached No. 1 on the Singles Chart in the UK, Ireland, and Scotland. Their followup single, “Got To Be You,” is scheduled to be released in late November. Both songs were lifted from their ’1D’ album.
The statue, according to the band, sits on a bench at the group’s flat and Niall has joked about receiving a matching Michelle Obama statue for his next birthday.
