Techno giants Orbital have come back together to work on a new album.
The album, still untitled, is the eighth studio album for the group. It also marks the first album release for the duo since their ‘Blue Album’ in 2004. The pair have recently released a single, “Never,” and many fans are hoping that the single will be featured on the new album.
Orbital, consisting of brothers Phil and Paul Hartnoll, worked closely with Mark “Flood” Ellis on the song. Ellis has worked with phenomenal acts such as The Killers and U2 in the past. “Never” doesn’t stray far from the sound that fans have come to love and expect of the pair. While the song does not have a pounding beat, its synthetic waves are almost drawing the listener into a dream-like state, inviting them to dream or become entranced while taking a late night road trip.
The song should be no surprise from the brothers, who took their name from the M25. The accompanying music video features a car taking a night trip around the city of London, through the busy streets and tunnels. The beat does change at approximately 2.25 minutes into the five minute long euphoric sound, but that does not make it any less mesmerizing. The entire song feels as if it is beckoning the listener to follow to a safer place.
Orbital is set to release their new album in the early part of 2012.
