Tickets for PJ Harvey’s upcoming show at London’s Royal Albert Hall go on sale today.
The show will note the end of a brief European tour for the singer, who has once again been nominated for a Mercury Prize. Harvey’s latest album, ‘Let England Shake,’ has received great acclaim and is her seventh non-collaborative studio album. Harvey has made two compilation albums in addition to working on two collaborative albums.
Harvey is multi-talented and can play the bass, autoharp, piano, and saxophone as well as the guitar. She received the 2001 Mercury Prize and has been nominated multiple times for both Brit Awards and Grammys. As part of her collaborative songwriting efforts, Harvey has worked with Tricky Angel, Josh Homme, and Nick Cave, as well as Marianne Faithful and Mark Lanegan.
The ‘This Mess We’re In’ singer also penned an original score for a Broadway musical, Henrik Ibsen’s ‘Hedda Gabler.’ The show starred Mary-Louise Parker and was directed by Ian Rickson. There has been very little mention of Harvey’s part in the creation of the play’s musical pieces.
Harvey has once again been nominated for a Mercury Prize for her ‘Let England Shake’ album. The winner will not be announced until sometime in September.
Harvey’s Royal Albert Hall gig is scheduled to take place on October 30.
