©PRPhotos.comPop star Rihanna recently admitted that she would have auditioned to appear on ‘X Factor’ if she would not have been signed.
The “We Found Love” singer is making a guest appearance on the US version of the show this week and had appeared on the UK running of the show last year.
“If it was ‘The X Factor’ that had come first, I definitely would have entered to have a chance at fulfilling my dream,” she told Radar Online, referring to the time before she was a signed artist.
The Barbados born singer was only 16 years old when she auditioned for L.A. Reid and Jay-Z of Def Jam Records and can relate to the amount of pressure that the show’s contestants feel when they perform before the show’s panel judges.
“He rarely gives second chances,” Rihanna said, speaking of Reid. “You really have to impress him.”
Impress Reid she did. Rihanna was signed immediately after auditioning for the famous producer. Rihanna’s debut album was released in 2005, featuring the hit song “Pon De Replay.” Her sophomore album was greeted with even much more success and included the songs “Take a Bow,” “Umbrella,” and “Disturbia.”
Four more albums came to follow, spawning a string of hit songs. “S.O.S,” “S&M,” “California King Bed,” Love the Way You Lie,” and “Unfaithful” all became hit songs for Rihanna, the superstar that continues to rise.
