Selena Gomez Who Says Finds Fame Overwhelming

Actress and pop star Selena Gomez has recently admitted that she has found fame to be “overwhelming.”

The ‘Monte Carlo’ starlet opened up about life in the limelight explaining that it’s important to have a good support system in place. The 19-year-old went on to explain that having friends friends who are not in show business is as equally important as having friends who are not.

“It’s nice to have people your age that know what you’re going through,” she said. “But it’s quite nice to have friends who aren’t in the business and can just take you away from it.”

Perhaps Gomez was referring to her boyfriend, 17-year-old pop star Justin Bieber, or her friend actress Demi Lovato. Lovato spent the latter part of 2010 in a rehab facility, recovering from depression and dealing with other destructive behaviors.

Perhaps former teen stars Britney Spears and Lindsay Lohan can shine the best example of caving to the pressures of fame. Spears’ downward spiral resulted in the “Baby… One More Time” singer losing custody of herself and to her father being her court assigned guardian. Lohan has been in trouble with the law on numerous occasions and recently began doing community service at the L.A. County Morgue before later being ordered to surrender herself for a thirty day jail term.

“Obviously, it’s an overwhelming business,” said Gomez.
