The Stone Roses, who recently announced their reunion tour and possible third album, have confirmed that they have added a third Manchester show to their tour. The show was added in response to overwhelming demand and ticket sales.
Tickets for the band’s June 29th and June 30th shows at Manchester’s Heaton Park only went on sale Friday morning, but more than 15,000 tickets were sold in under 14 minutes. The band dissolved in 1996 after the release of their second studio album and just two months after the Reading show where the group was booed off stage.
Rumors of a reunion surfaced in both 2007 and 2009, with band members denying the stories but the band decided to regroup after all attended the funeral of band member Gary Mounfield’s mother. The Stone Roses’ 2012 tour is said to be a massive world tour, but after the three Manchester shows, only one other show has been confirmed and announced. According to The Sun, the band is set to make an appearance at the T in the Park Festival in Scotland.
Ian Brown hopes that the “magic” that helped fuel the band’s early success will be with them as they embark on their ventures.
“We are going to do what we did the first time and ride it ’til the wheels come off,” Brown has said.
The third Manchester show is scheduled for July 1st at Heaton Park.
