Rap artist T.I. has been released from prison after spending 10 months at the Forrest City Correctional Facility in Arkansas. The star’s departure from the prison system has been confirmed by Chris Burke, spokesman for the Federal Bureau of Prisons.
Burke told TMZ that T.I., whose real name is Clifford Harris Jr., was released shortly before 7:30 a.m. CST and was being transferred to a halfway house at an undisclosed location.
The rap star was arrested in Los Angeles last September on drug charges. He was already on probation at the time of the arrest and although the drug possession charges were later dropped, the arrest violated conditions of a probation that he was already serving for weapons charges.
T.I. has released a total of seven studio albums that feature hit songs such as “Swagga Like Us,” “Dead And Gone,” and “That’s All She Wrote.” He has collaborated with a number of artists such as Justin Timberlake, Eminem, and Kanye West. In addition to his widely celebrated musical career, T.I. has appeared in the film ‘ATL’ as well as ‘American Gangster.’
T.I. was stormed by both media controversy and praise in October 2010, after convincing an Atlanta man not to jump from a high-rise building where the man had threatened to commit suicide. Many people believed that the event had been planned in order to help the rapper’s pending court cases.
