The Rolling Stones 50th Anniversary Gig

The Rolling Stones

The Rolling Stones have been rocking stages around the world for years and 2012 will mark the group’s 50th anniversary as a band.

The Stones have not performed together in four years, and despite rumors that the group would be doing so to celebrate a half-a-century of making music, but Jagger cleared the air regarding stories that the group would be performing at the London Olympics.

“A band gets trapped,” Jagger said.

Jagger was spotted last week leaving a meeting with Keith Richards, Charlie watts, and Ronnie Wood – the other three members of The Rolling Stones.

Despite the current inactivity with The Stones, Jagger has remained busy, working with another collective of music stars. Joss Stone, Damian Marly, A.R. Rahman, and former Eurythmics member Dave Stewart have come together to form the group Superheavy.

Superheavy’s debut album dropped today and Jagger has expressed interest in future work for the group.

“If people like it,” he said, referring to the album.

The Rolling Stones saw the bulk of their glory during the 1970s and 1980s. The group was known for their trademark guitar riffs, steady beats, and Jagger’s distinctive voice. The Rolling Stones are best known for their hit songs “Satisfaction” and “Paint It Black.”
