“Unite and Take Over: Comic Stories Inspired by The Smiths” will be a short comic strip that highlights some of the bands most popular songs such as “How Soon is Now” and “Girlfriend in a Coma.”

Demumbrum told The Guardian “There ws always something about The Smiths’ ‘Please Please Please Let Me Get What I Want.’” He continued to say that as a teen in the 80s, the Morrisey’s vocals, tapping into his “teenage psche with a combination of loneliness and hopeful optimism.”

Other contributors to the project include Shelby Robertson, Christian Vilaire, and Henry Barajas.

The comic strip is set to debut at the 2011 Tuscon Comic Con the weekend of November 5 & 6.

Demumbrum further explained that he favored the “Pretty in Pink” movie soundtrack, as it featured “Please Please Please.” The published comic will be between four and eight pages.

Jeff Pina will also be contributing to the project.
