Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke has confirmed that the popular band will be making a tour of the UK next year.
Yorke was speaking to Gilles Peterson of BBC Radio 1 when he announced the group’s plans for the upcoming year that include a jaunt across the UK and bring Clive Deamer of Portishead on the road with them. Deamer joined the band earlier this year at a Glastonbury show. Yorke also revealed that it was the group’s intention to tour on an “on again, off again” basis throughout the year.
Yorke then went on to discuss a side personal side project, ‘Atoms for Peace,’ which he is bringing together with Flea of the Red Hot Chili Peppers and producer Nigel Godrich. Together, they have planned to release at least one album.
“We ended up getting into the studio,” Yorke said, “and generating some more beats based around something I had already.”
Radiohead is best known for their songs “Creep,” “Fake Plastic Trees,” and “High and Dry,” each of which saw worldwide success. ‘The King of Limbs’ was released in February and marks the first time that Radiohead has not toured shortly before or almost immediately after an album release.
Tour dates for Radiohead’s 2012 UK tour are to be announced.
