Matt Damon bought a zoo! Well, his character in the film We Bought a Zoo did just that and now the first photos from the Cameron Crowe film have premiered.
Damon stars in the heartwarming film based on the memoir by Benjamin Mee. The story concerns a man (Damon) who, after his wife passes away, decides his next step in life is to purchase a local zoo. Naturally, right?
We Bought a Zoo also stars a stellar cast including Scarlett Johansson, Elle Fanning, Thomas Haden Church and Patrick Fugit.
Filmmaker Cameron Crowe has not been heard from much in the last few years. In fact, his last film, 2005’s Elizabethtown starring Orlando Bloom, was a certified flop. Crowe has not seen a hit since he brought his youth to life in 2000’s Almost Famous and 2001’s Vanilla Sky.
For a period there, Crowe was the go-to director with some of film’s greatest hits. From Jerry Maguire and Singles to Say Anything, it seemed as if there was nothing Crowe could do wrong. Also of note: He was the screenwriter for the iconic hit Fast Times at Ridgemont High.
Crowe is also the screenwriter on We Bought a Zoo, so expect a film to warm the heart, as well as a piece of art that with any luck, will also challenge the mind. He is one of our favorite filmmakers and here’s hoping We Bought a Zoo brings him back to the A-list when it premieres December 23.
