Westlife, the phenomenally successful all-male pop group, will be taking to the road in May 2012.
The group spent some time touring the UK earlier in the year and are preparing for the November 21st release of their ‘Greatest Hits’ album. As a band, the members of Westlife have spent most of their adult life working in the music industry. Since forming in 1998, the band has released a total of 10 studio albums, at the frequency of one album each year beginning in 1999.
Westlife also holds several impressive records related to tours and ticket sales. The group has performed at Wembley Arena in London more than any other band and also hold the record for the most ticket sales for the venue. They have been on a whopping total of 10 sell-out tours.
With the announcement of their tour, the band also delivered some disappointing news. The members of Westlife have decided to call it quits – once they wrap up their May 2012 tour, that is. The decision to dissolve the boy band is a mutual one as band members have decided to pursue other avenues of interest.
One source told The Sun that the release of Westlife’s ‘Greatest Hits’ album is a symbol of appreciation to fans for years of support, as well as a solemn farewell.
Tickets for Westlife’s May 2012 UK tour go on sale Friday, October 21st at 9 a.m.
